I bought an older boat 1988 I need help on the fishfinder?
It has a Uniden mc 500 video fish finder on it but I can’t find a word about the thing anywhere on the internet and have no manual for it.
It seems to work fine but I have no idea what all those buttons do.
Any help would be great.

Uniden has a pretty complete owners manual list on line at http://www.uniden.com/index/manuals_results.cfm?cat=7 You have to navigate the drop down menu to Marine electronics but you should get what you need, Good Luck!
whatever your model fishfinder / echo sounder, it is not really connected to the age of your boat….It may be an “88 model ‘sounder’
Press the buttons all you like…it will not harm the sounder…even without a manual, it is possible to slowly work out what button does what.
And where is your TRANSDUCER located…that is the part on the bottom of the boat that sends out the signal…the electronic signal goes through the water until it hits the bottom or the AIR BAG of a passing fish, and the returning echo registers and shows on the screen.
Many boats put the transducer in a sealed container [ e.g. PVC pipe] filled with oil and solidly glued to the inside of the hull…the container must have no bottom on it and the oil must be incontact with the hull. The solves the problem of having to drill access holes in the hull…
