Hello I have a new Mercury 20hp engine without Electric Starter.
I also have a Sitex 106mkii (CRT 6.7” color) fishfinder.
I read that people who run fishfinders off of batteries usually have the portable smaller types.
Will mine hold up or will it drain the battery before I can fish

I run my big motor(electric start) live well/ lights /depth finder with one battery and I have a seperate battery for my trolling motor. My depth finder works great off of my main battery. My battery holds up for the entire season.
It should be fine running the fishfinder and the motor off the same battery as long as it’s charged when you head out. just test it out for a half day trip and see how much it drains it. My fishfinder actually has a meter that tells me how much of a charge is left on the battery. I actually run 3 batteries 1 for the motor and electronics and 2 for the trolling motor
You should be o.k., but ta’ be on the safe side best to get a hand-held battery meter (link) so you can stay on top of your battery’s charge. Better safe than sorry

Note: As already mentioned by Brandon, check battery and charge if neccessary before headin’ out…
